Spotify is opening a new revenue opportunity for Colombian podcasters as its Partner Program arrives in the country this October. The move comes as video podcasts gain momentum and creators look for new ways to turn audiences into sustainable businesses.

A New Revenue Stream for Colombian Creators

The Spotify Partner Program gives eligible podcast creators several ways to earn money from their content.

The program combines revenue from Spotify Premium video consumption with advertising on Spotify Free and other podcast platforms. Creators can also continue managing their own sponsorship deals and keep the income from those agreements.

Colombia joins more than 35 new markets in Spotify’s latest global expansion. The program officially becomes available in Colombia on October 20, 2026.

Video Podcasts Are Growing Fast

The timing reflects a significant change in how Colombians consume podcasts.

According to Spotify, nearly six in 10 Colombian podcast listeners also watched podcasts in video format on the platform during 2026. Monthly video-podcast consumption increased by nearly 70% over the previous year.

Meanwhile, the number of podcasts with video available in Colombia grew by more than 50%.

For creators, that shift makes video increasingly important. A podcast can now reach people who want to watch a conversation as well as those who simply want to listen.

Who Can Join Spotify’s Partner Program?

Creators must meet several requirements to participate. Their shows must be hosted through Spotify for Creators and have at least three published episodes.

They must also record at least 2,000 hours of consumption and 1,000 Spotify listeners during the previous 30 days.

Spotify says it lowered the program’s entry requirements earlier this year, potentially making the opportunity more accessible to emerging creators.

What It Means for Colombia’s Podcast Scene

The expansion gives Colombian podcasters another route to build a business around their content.

It could also encourage more creators to invest in video production, while giving brands another way to connect with highly targeted audiences.

For creators in cities such as Barranquilla, Bogotá, Medellín and Cali, the change adds another incentive to develop locally focused shows with audiences that extend beyond Colombia.

As podcasting continues moving from audio-only conversations toward a broader video experience, Spotify’s latest move gives Colombian creators a new reason to press record—and keep building their audience.
