Sabor Barranquilla 2026: A Four-Day Feast of Caribbean Fruit, Culture, and Creativity
Barranquilla’s most anticipated food festival returns this August with a fresh perspective: the extraordinary fruits of the Caribbean take center stage. From desert cactus fruit to tropical classics, Sabor Barranquilla 2026 invites visitors to taste the region through its biodiversity, history, and living culinary traditions.
A Celebration of Caribbean Biodiversity
Sabor Barranquilla will take place from August 20 to 23 at Puerta de Oro, Centro de Eventos del Caribe. The festival will bring together 52 chefs and cooks from more than ten Colombian regions, as well as Curazao, Aruba, and Argentina.
This year’s theme, “The Richness of the Caribbean,” highlights ingredients that often remain outside the spotlight. Corozo, tamarind, sapote, guanábana, mamey, icaco, and other regional fruits connect local cuisine with rural communities, ancestral knowledge, and the landscapes where these foods grow.
From the Desert to the Dinner Plate
La Guajira will be the featured Colombian department, presenting the iguaraya, a fruit that grows on a cactus and reflects the character of the desert. Curazao, the guest country of honor, will introduce laraha orange, an ingredient closely associated with the island’s famous blue liqueur.
Meanwhile, chefs will reinterpret Colombian fruits through contemporary desserts, ice creams, pastries, cocktails, and savory recipes. These preparations will show how traditional ingredients can move confidently into modern Caribbean gastronomy.
Live Cooking, Local Stories, and Music
The festival program includes 53 live cooking demonstrations across three stages. Visitors can also attend eleven talks, panels, and conversations exploring food, sustainability, cultural identity, and the role of fruit in Caribbean history.
The academic forum, “Caribbean Fruits: A World of Wonder,” begins on Thursday, August 20, at 10:00 a.m. Researchers, chefs, historians, artists, producers, and traditional cooks will examine how biodiversity reaches the table.
Tickets and Pricing
Sabor Barranquilla 2026 will welcome visitors from Thursday, August 20, to Sunday, August 23, at Puerta de Oro, Centro de Eventos del Caribe. The festival will open from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday—with admission from 10:00 a.m. for registered forum participants—11:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets cost COP 22,000 for anyone 13 and over, COP 12,000 for children aged 6 to 12, while discounted group tickets include the Bembé package for three adults at COP 55,000 and the **Patota package for five adults at COP 85,000. Tickets can be purchased online through the official Sabor Barranquilla website or in person at the Puerta de Oro ticket office during the festival.
