The 2025–2026 Colombian Professional Baseball League season will open on November 28, 2025, ushering in the fiftieth edition of winter ball in the country and a new chapter for Caribbean baseball fans. With coastal cities once again at the center of the action, the league will showcase four franchises: Caimanes de Barranquilla, Toros de Sincelejo, Vaqueros de MonterÃa, and Tigres de Cartagena.
The Caimanes de Barranquilla will be playing against the Tigres de Cartagena at the Edgar RenterÃa Stadium in Barranquilla on Friday, November 28th. The game starts at 7pm. Tickets available on Tuboleta here and here.
This year’s big absence will be Leones de Barranquilla, a traditional powerhouse that initially appeared to have solved its financial troubles and was expected to compete. In the end, the club was unable to secure the sponsorships needed to sustain a full campaign and officially withdrew, leaving the league with one team fewer than originally planned. The situation contrasts with Tigres de Cartagena, who also faced serious financial uncertainty but secured backing from local authorities and committed to participate for at least the next three seasons.
On the field, fans can look forward to packed nights at various stadiums on the Caribbean coast, where veteran stars and emerging prospects will battle through the regular season and playoffs. The upcoming season promises a mix of veteran talent and emerging stars, with many players returning from international play in Mexico, the United States, and independent leagues abroad.
Although the league champion was originally slated to attend the 2026 Caribbean Series, economic constraints mean Colombia’s representative will instead head to the 2026 Serie de Las Américas, a continental showdown where the winner of this season will still carry the Colombian flag on an international stage.
