Barranquilla has added a fresh attraction to the Gran Malecón: the Carrusel del Río. This family-friendly ride is already drawing attention because it combines riverfront views, lights, and a classic amusement experience. It also strengthens the city’s growing tourism offer along the Magdalena River.

What Visitors Can Expect

The Carrusel del Río operates Monday through Sunday, with Monday closed for service. From Tuesday to Friday, it runs from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., while weekends and holidays it’ll operate from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Tickets are sold through TuBoleta, and the ride has different prices depending on the package selected. Tickets can also be purchased in-person at the ticket booth located near the carousel. The price is $12,500 COP per person.

The attraction features two levels and can carry 68 people per cycle. In addition, children under 110 cm must ride with an adult, and every rider needs a ticket. These rules help keep the experience organized and safe for families. The ride lasts approximately 12 minutes.

The Carrousel del Río is located next to the Luna del Río Ferris wheel on the Gran Malecón del Rio.

More Tourism

The new ride adds another reason to visit the Malecón, especially for travelers looking for easy sightseeing and entertainment in one place. Likewise, it fits Barranquilla’s broader strategy of turning the riverfront into a stronger leisure district. Similar coverage has highlighted the city’s recent push to expand iconic attractions around the river.

This kind of attraction also works well for short visits because it offers a quick, visual, and shareable experience. As a result, it can appeal to families, couples, and tourists who want a simple plan with a memorable view. The Carrusel del Río helps position Barranquilla as a more dynamic stop on Colombia’s Caribbean circuit.
