Mayor’s Office Reports Phase 1 of Puerto Mocho is now 90% Complete.

The mayor highlighted that residents and business owners will soon have access to essential public services, including water, electricity, gas, and a Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Joined by the primary stakeholders and beneficiaries of the project, Mayor Alejandro Char conducted a new inspection tour of Puerto Mocho. The transformation taking place will allow them to offer tourists and visitors a significantly improved experience.

In each new area and feature, the mayor explained to visitors what they could expect and enjoy, starting with the information desk, environmental classroom, kitchens, and craft sales points.

During the tour, the vendors appreciated seeing the progress firsthand alongside Mayor Char and acknowledged the future impact this project will have in attracting both local and international tourism.

For Nidia Sabogal, leader of the Puerto Mocho vendors, this restoration project represents a transformation in her quality of life, as well as for her colleagues and their families, bringing more visitors and customers to improve their economy.

This new space will include sales points for refrigerated products, sports facilities like beach soccer and volleyball courts, kitchens, kiosks, an administration area, a medical post, tourist information desk, storage, a kitesurfing school, a non-motorized water sports school, tank areas, and technical rooms. Additionally, it will host the first operational headquarters for local fishermen.

Furthermore, 380 beach tents will be set up in two rows along the shore, accommodating up to 3,000 people. The mayor also highlighted that the entire beach area will be equipped with public services, and the 200–300 fishing families will have an operational base with refrigeration rooms to offer their fresh, high-quality products.

Puerto Mocho will open to the public on Saturday, November 30, 2024.
