Barranquilla will host the final of the CONMEBOL 2026 Copa Sudamericana as confirmed by Alejandro Char, the mayor of Barranquilla.
Barranquilla was confirmed this past Friday, November 28th, as the host city for the final of the 2026 Copa Sudamericana, and Colombia, for the first time since the competition switched to a single-match final in 2019, will host a game of this magnitude. The scheduled date for the 2026 Copa Sudamericana final is November 21, 2026.
The news was confirmed by the mayor of Barranquilla, Alejandro Char, through his social media accounts.
“Barranquilla, host city of the 2026 Copa Sudamericana final! It is an immense joy to bring this final to our city. Thanks to Alejandro Domínguez, president of Conmebol, to Ramón Jesurún, president of the Colombian Football Federation, and to the entire Conmebol committee, thank you for your support and trust. Barranquilla awaits you all!”
Alejandro Char had been dropping hints about the news on his social media for several days.
“Barranquilla keeps making history,” he wrote a few days ago on his official Instagram account.
In Lima, the host city of the 2025 Copa Libertadores final, Char met with Alejandro Domínguez, president of Conmebol, and Ramón Jesurún, president of the Colombian Football Federation (FCF), to sign the documents that make Barranquilla the official host of next year’s final.
Alejandro Domínguez stated in the video shared by Alejandro Char that this is a vote of confidence in Barranquilla and in Colombia to organize an event of this caliber.
“The council deliberated, and unanimously we decided to give Barranquilla our vote of confidence so it can host the single-match final of the 2026 Sudamericana. We are sure that this choice is the right one and that we are going to enjoy it,” said the leader before greeting Alejandro Char and Ramón Jesurún.
