The Nutcracker on Ice is coming to Barranquilla this 2024!
The Nutcracker always arrives with Christmas, now performed on eco-friendly ice by the Great Moscow Ice Ballet. This fable contrasts the reality of the adult world with the dream world of children.
Its vibrant colors, the extraordinary imagination of the characters, the artistry of figure skating, thrilling adventures, and the wonderful music of Tchaikovsky have made The Nutcracker one of the most frequently performed ballets worldwide during the Holiday season.
“… The children awaken and run to receive their gifts: a harlequin, a columbine, and a charming little soldier with a big head and strong teeth for cracking nuts, which Clara loves. She goes to sleep with the Nutcracker and dreams: toy soldiers march, the harlequin and columbine dance joyfully… when suddenly, the Mouse King and his army emerge from the shadows to battle the toy soldiers. The Nutcracker rises, grasps a sword, and commands the cannons to fire sweets at the mice.
The Nutcracker wins the battle, transforms into a handsome Prince, and invites Clara on a fantastic journey through a forest where snowflakes dance. They set sail on an enchanted ship toward the Land of Sweets, departing in the Royal Sleigh drawn by reindeer, and disappear into the starry sky…”

The Nutcracker on Ice will be performed by the Moscow Ballet in Barranquilla on Monday, November 18, 2024. The performance will be held at the José Consuegra Higgins Theater.
