AmaWaterways launches its luxury Magdalena River cruise from Barranquilla to Cartagena.  It will bring river cruising to Colombia’s Magdalena River with the debut of AmaMagdalena, the first of two purpose-built ships designed for this historic waterway.

AmaMagdalena will embark on its inaugural voyage on March 15, 2025, followed by the launch of AmaMelodía in June 2025. Crews are currently constructing both vessels, while AmaWaterways finalizes the necessary infrastructure to support operations in this new destination.

Although initially scheduled for November 2024, the maiden season was postponed to refine the route further. AmaWaterways President Rudi Schreiner emphasized the significance of this venture, highlighting it as the first time a major river cruise line has offered this type of journey on the Magdalena River.
