Colombian Sports Minister Patricia Duque and Mayor Alejandro Char inaugurated Bosque Miramar, a new sports park in Barranquilla.

The park features a mountain biking trail and eco-friendly walking paths for the public to enjoy.
Minister Duque praised the initiative, highlighting the importance of expanding recreational spaces while protecting the local ecosystem.

“This is a dream come true,” Duque said. “On July 22nd, we proudly open this space for Barranquilla’s athletes and families.” She added that the collaboration between the national government and the city helped bring the project to life. “This ecological trail will benefit citizens and inspire other municipalities across the region,” she stated.

Mayor Char emphasized the value of preserving green urban areas that improve the city’s quality of life. He also thanked Minister Duque for supporting the project and co-financing the park. “Mountain biking is now an Olympic sport,” Char said. “Barranquilla needed a public trail—it used to be only on private land.”

Now, children and cyclists of all levels can train in a safe, accessible environment. A veteran cyclist with 15 years of experience celebrated the new trail: “The design includes technical sections that are perfect for advanced riders like me,” he said. “We can truly enjoy our bikes here. Thanks to the city for investing in sports and thinking of the community.” He encouraged more people to visit the park and explore the new trails.
