Netflix has begun filming En diciembre llegaban las brisas, a series based on the acclaimed novel by Barranquilla-born writer Marvel Moreno. The production is being shot in the historic El Prado neighborhood, with scenes taking place along Carrera 54, Carrera 58, and Calle 64. The project is produced by Dynamo, the same company behind Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of One Hundred Years of Solitude.
The series is directed by Claudia Pedraza and Rafael Martínez, with scripts by Rafael Noguera, Cecilia Percy, Marcela Peláez, and Lony Welter. Executive producers include Angélica Guerra, Adriana Aparicio, and renowned Spanish producer Michel Ruben, known for his work on All About My Mother and Talk to Her by Pedro Almodóvar, as well as Guillermo del Toro’s The Devil’s Backbone.
A Story Rooted in Barranquilla’s Past
Set in late 1950s Barranquilla, the story explores themes of passion, secrecy, and social tension through the lives of women who challenge traditional norms. Netflix describes it as “an intimate yet universal story” that highlights female voices navigating a conservative society.
The plot follows Lina, a woman in Paris who remembers the intertwined lives of three women—Dora, Catalina, and Beatriz—in her hometown.

Honoring Marvel Moreno’s Legacy
This adaptation arrives 30 years after Marvel Moreno’s passing in Paris, reaffirming her influence on Caribbean and Latin American literature. Often celebrated as one of Colombia’s most important women writers, Moreno left a lasting mark with narratives that centered on female perspectives and societal critique.
The project also benefits from Colombia’s CINA (Audiovisual Investment Certificate) incentive, granting a 35% tax rebate on local audiovisual expenses, further boosting the country as a hub for international productions.
With En diciembre llegaban las brisas, Netflix continues expanding its portfolio of adaptations of Latin American literature, following titles like Delirium and One Hundred Years of Solitude. This series promises to bring global attention to Marvel Moreno’s masterpiece while showcasing the culture and history of Barranquilla.
