In November 2024, Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2024 list was unveiled in Rio de Janeiro at an event sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna. Of the top 50 named, 1 is in Barranquilla, 1 in Cartagena, and 3 in Bogotá.
Don Julio, a restaurant in Buenos Aires, was crowned Latin America’s best restaurant during the gala. It succeeded Peru’s Maido, which topped last year’s list, but ranked second in 2024.
Celele, located in Cartagena, also represents the Caribbean region on this prestigious list.
This ranking is based on votes from over 200 culinary authorities, including chefs, food journalists, and gastronomic travelers, who contribute to compiling the Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2024 list.
Manuel Restaurant – Barranquilla
Manuel Restaurant, located in Barranquilla, reaffirmed its place as one of Latin America’s best by ranking #42 among the 50 Best Restaurants according to the prestigious Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2024 list.
Manuel Mendoza, chef and founder of the restaurant, expressed his gratitude: “I’m very thankful to showcase my homeland and roots with pride. This award reflects the efforts of a team that gives its best every day. Our dedicated team, both in the kitchen and dining area, grows with us daily. We are confident this award will bring more tourism to the city and elevate our gastronomy.”
Manuel opened in June 2021 in the iconic El Prado neighborhood and quickly established itself as one of the city’s top restaurants. Manuel Mendoza, the chef and owner, is a Barranquilla native who first gained recognition with Cocina 33, a restaurant he founded over 12 years ago in Barranquilla.
Cocina 33 now operates in Medellín, Montería, and Barranquilla, while Mendoza’s new venture, Manuel, has achieved international acclaim.
