Indonesia, renowned worldwide for its postcard-perfect islands and majestic temples, has announced a visa exemption for Colombian travelers.
Traveling to Asia has become a top priority for global tourists, including Colombians, who enjoy vacations in the region’s paradisiacal jungle and beach landscapes.
Thailand and Anguilla also removed visa requirements for Colombian citizens in 2024.
The Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed this measure. In a statement published on January 14, 2025, the Ministry revealed that Colombians can now enter the Southeast Asian country with only their passport, provided they meet certain requirements.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia is pleased to announce the implementation of Indonesia’s legislation allowing the visa exemption for Colombian holders of ordinary passports traveling to the country for short-term tourism purposes,” the Ministry stated.
“This relaxation in visa regulations marks another step in strengthening bilateral relations between Colombia and Indonesia and will contribute to promoting tourism and trade between the two countries,” the statement added.
Requirements for Colombians
To benefit from this visa exemption, travelers must meet certain conditions, including holding a valid Colombian passport.
Additionally, they must stay in Indonesia for a maximum of 30 days without the possibility of extension. The purpose of their trip must fall under specific categories, such as tourism, family visits, transit to other countries, business, attending meetings, shopping, medical treatments, or government-related matters.
If Colombians plan activities outside these categories, they must apply for a visa through the official website of Indonesia’s Ministry of Immigration. This process involves identifying the required visa type, submitting the necessary documents, paying the associated fee, and downloading the visa once approved.
